Taffy's LairDecember 10 Formal!Okay, our formal was on thursday night, fun fun. It was great, good music and stuff. After party was kinda crap though, too big for the ammount of ppl who went to that- there was like 400 at the formal (awesome), and only like 100, if that, at holy grail (after party, not so cool). Pretty good night though.
I've got some of the pics up, still need to get a bunch off other people though, so if i haven't grabbed photos off you yet MSG ME!.
On the other hand, i found the professional shots (which im not allowed to copy so i wont post in an album)
Link is here though- http://www.rgbphoto.com.au/LTC2006/
Some pretty cool photos in there, check em out. November 25 Yr 12 FarewellWe had our last day of "school" yesterday, so like year 12 farewell and stuff. It was pretty cool, the teachers made us breakfast and then in the assembly they all lined up against the wall and corridors all the way to like the front office and we shook hands with them as we left. Also it was John See's last day (principal), he's retiring with us after 30 yrs I think. His speech was cool, he was in tears at the end of it.
So anyway I have some photos up, well from Mine and Dean's phone and Katy's camera, I still need to grab some off other people so if you're reading this, email me some :P
John See's quote- "May the wind always be on your backs, and the road rise up to meet you" November 21 CoastOkay so I haven't updated this place in yonks, here are the pics from the coast trip, which was like a month and a bit ago lol- last hols. Was pretty fun, place we stayed at was great, beach and stuff was cool. It had a spa too, which we spent lots of time in, probably even more than the beach. But yeah, it was an awesome trip, and im sure i've told most of you about it already since it was ages ago :P
Anyway, its nearly the end of school :S Like a week and exams left and then we have the huge summer hols before Uni! Will be strange not seeing a lot of people much again, but yeah. Formal is soon too, and graduation after that.. where we get UAIs. Anyway, i'll post about that later, bye bye September 18 Scrubs- awesome show!I have to say im totally addicted to Scrubs atm. It's such a great show... I watched like 16 eps last week :O If you haven't seen it, then you have to watch it sometime :P
![]() Anyway, Life's been pretty boring, just school work and what not. I think i'm getting sick though, right on time for exam week next week as ussual, ah well. Okay i'm bored, talk to you all on msn sometime.. September 01 More bloggingWhat's happened since my last post... hmm, went to the UNI Open day, well I only went to ANU but yeah. The Engineering/IT Faculty is pretty cool, they had some mad things there, like a 4wd drive that could drive itself, robots that could track you and a flying machine. Oh and for the bbq's each faculty had, at the engineering one they used solar power to boil them- was sort of like a giant focused magnifying glass, but it actually worked :O! Anyway, as far as helping me choose what degree I want, well they just confirmed my guess that both the B. Software Engineering and the B. Engineering/IT are the practically same for what the majors I want to do (Mechatronics and Software Design), cept for one being a year longer and a double degree really. So i've decided i'm just gonna start in B.SE and if I decide after a while I prefer slightly more engineering stuff i'll transfer into the double degree because the first 2 years are the same.
Then that night I went to beth's dads house with the people from friday night and we watched some kiddy movie called Fern Gully, pretty random, but was fun. Typical movie night too with blankets n all :P And Michael had his 18th bday dinner on wednesday night, that was great. Was at some chinese place I hadn't been before but we sat around talking for ages about some really random stuff (like Stan the barber's mullet o.0) But yeah, was pretty cool- pictures are in the new album i just made. Badminton lastnight as ussual n thats all.. hmm, AST next week, scary how school is nearly over! Anyway, assignments unstarted are calling.
PS. Got Titan Quest now so that will distract me >< August 26 Woot! What fun =)Well tonight was quite random, and fun. Was out pretty much since I left for school in the morning so it was different being out all day for a change :P Anyway, we went and saw Snakes on a Plane at woden with friends from badminton, and we actually found more randoms from badminton in woden while we were there and dragged them along too, so pretty much all the college people from badminton went in the end. Snakes on a Plane was actually a lot better than I expected, though I wasn't expecting much so thats not the best opinion :P But yeah, its very cliche and laughable at times even though its a horror/action flick. Speaking of which though, you REALLY need to watch this flash, its the best mockup of Snakes on a Plane ive seen!
Anyway after that nath went off with tegan and the other two we found left, so it was just me mel mic beth n julia left. Beth was going to some trivia night thing at the southern cross club so we [most randomly] tagged along :P That didn't finish til like just after 11, but it was fun so its cool =) I think we came like 7th out of like 30 tables so we did pretty well. A few of us hadn't eaten anything since school (if even that) so beth mentioned she had cookies at her house and so we [randomly] went over there for a few min after before dropping everyone home.. finding the way around random houses at night is eventful lol, especially when the car windscreen kept fogging up haha.
Anyway was pretty good having a night out, been a while since the last time.
"If you see just 3 movies about snakes on planes, see this one.. THIRD" =P August 10 Weekend, where are you?Man, I feel crappy. Thursdays are ussually my favourite day of the week but today wasn't that great, and you know what that means- if Thursdays can't be great, what can? :P Nah anyway.. badminton was crappy tonight cos I played horribly, I dunno, tired I guess. And thats probably from not sleeping enough lately- I'm in need of a lifestyle change. Been getting <7 hrs sleep (ussually 6) a night and thats dodgey. It's not cos I can't sleep either, it's me getting carried away doing crap on the pc when I should be sleeping- 90% of the time whatever I'm trying to finish off before bed doesn't actually get finished anyway so i'm really not winning anywhere. Then school next day i'm probably half tired and using music as steroids to keep me working LOL, it's lame I swear.
Theres like homework to do every night, my site's traffic (and hence my money) is going down, and I've missed BWL 2 nights in a row now. At least I have a fair bit of DKP. I have a bzillion things I need to update on my site >< My inbox has something like 271 mail unread and about 5000 total that I've been meaning to sort through for about 2 years now :S What else.. oh I finally got around to reinstalling windows (temporary until I reformat- yes another thing to do..) but I broke my PCI bus somewhere in the process- So I have no soundcard (mobo sound didn't work either) and no TV card, I'm stuck on a MONO usb speakerphone, which makes playing games really crap as I ussually use the sound to figure out where people are. I have to get a new sound device and probably a new webcam too cos my current one doesn't go well with flash. We're also having an extension done on the living room so dad keeps calling me to help move thhings >< /sigh..So whats that, crappy game-playing, lots of work to do and a non-existant love life makes for a rather crappy mood.
On the very diminished positive side however, I progressed a little bit with building Sarah (..Central, my computer)- she can now tell me what time my next bus home is via MSN- kinda cool.. Speaking of which, does anyone know of any good SAPI-5 voices I can get a hold of? ..I wish i'd actually finished building more of her though, I mean then she could be making me go to bed early and take on some of this overwhelming workload =( ..Okay, I know thats kinda sad i'm wishing my computer was alive and taking care of me o.0
Anyway, more to the point, i'm waiting for the weekend as a time to not do anything for at least one night- workload begone! NOTE: Sorry for any and all negativity in the post, been trying to keep it off the space for ages but I guess it has to come at some point. Oh and excuse the technobabble too.
CORRECTION: Thursdays are still good- Smallville succeeded where the rest of the day failed =P May 23 Update!Well I haven't posted in a while. Lets see, whats new... I think I forgot to mention the fone I got for my bday [sort of]. It's a Motorola [as ussual] RAZR V3X. Not quite as thin as the normal razrs but its awesome, has video calling, a 2mp camera, cartoon network [MobileTV baby!] & msn. If you saw me signed in on 'a Mobile Device' a lot, that was probably when I was in sydney for the science camp- another thing I did recently.
Was pretty cool, we went to Luna Park the first day, then had a bit of an experience finding a place for dinner because they pretty much just let us loose in sydney and told us to go get something to eat. We were in chinatown at the time and we went to the nearest sign that said Food Court, then realised that didn't help because all the shops looked the same to us and we seemed to be the only non-asian people eating there. So then we saw the teachers eating down below at a restaurent and went and ate there thinking they'd know how to pick better than we did- was a decent idea. Then we went to the sydney observatory, and umm, looked at stars :P Went back to our hotel rooms n slept really, I was sharing a room with Nathan, Michael & Dean.
Next day we went to SydneyU and made slime, and afterwards got a lecture about great chemical disasters (was cool, the lecturer blew up hydrogen baloons). After that we went to the Museam of Human Diseases; which was pretty much just a big room full of diseased body parts, kinda erky. Then freetime, we went to some arcade and played a fourplayer co-op FPS, was heaps fun. iMaxxx after that, watched some video about the mars rover's trip to mars. Then after that was dinner again, we decided to follow the teachers straight up this time, didn't help though cos my friends not knowing whether a dish was a side dish or a meal ordered 3 of the same thing. Was kinda funny, I was the only one ordering something Different. Then more free time before bed, I think most people just went and watched Johnny die on OC, then bummed around.
Last day we went to the Nuclear Reactor, which was cool as well, we didn't get to turn ourselves into Spiderman though [Damn!]. I only took a few photos of that trip but they're on the new album I just made which has photos from since I got my new fone >>>.
Other things i've done over the last while... umm, Ash's bday party, Zak's bday party, Natalie's 18th, Stef's 18th. Theres a bunch of photos there of them, Stef's was pretty cool, was a dress up party, I went as a devil =). I'd have to say either Monkey or Michael had the best outfits though, Monkey was a pimp and he even had golden $$ glasses, Michael went as Luffy from that cartoon One-Piece thats on in mornings [or use to be].
Anyway, now i'm just bogged with assignments and homework >.< I think one of the pic's below captures my mood well. April 12 New stuffWoah. I haven't updated this place in months lol. Been a pretty average term really (part from today..:P), ended up continueing playing WoW (which incidently had managed to take up a whole 1/3rd of my summer hols). Grades went... hmm lol. Well it was sort of ok, but lets just say i have to concentrate a bit more next term :P
Went to the movies today though, saw Inside Man, which is great... and i'm with someone new, Most of you would have heard by now anyway February 12 Happy Happy Happy :PI've been in a really good mood today, you can probably tell. Things just seem so much more fun, see- I told you February was great :) Went to Dean's Surprise Birthday party lastnight, it was awesome. Probably one of the best parties i've ever been to actually haha. And yeah it worked out perfectly, he had no clue about the party when he came in :D I met a lot of new people at the party n they were all pretty cool :) ("Hi if your reading this!") Jenna has a pool too so that was good (it was at her house). Oh! n near the end, we went down to Monash Oval and played around with about 12 packets of sparklers :P It was fun writing words with them n taking photos with the shutter speed low. Surprised it actually worked :)
Apart from that, my week has been pretty good too. It was good to see everyone again (since school started again). Man, there are soooooooo many new year 11s now, they outnumber us 12s! lol. But it's ok, some of them are cool :)
Hope everything is going good for everyone else too... ooh, valentines day tuesday ;P
Be happy!
--thavidu February 03 It's February!I'm excited, aren't you? lol... nah. I just like this month- School starts on the 7th, then the 14th is valentines day, and the 21st is my bday :) all exactly a week apart haha.. hmm school shall be interesting this year :D i really haven't done much this summer though :/ January 29 Life is Great.Woo Hoo! I haven't felt this good in ages. I'm finally at peace with myself- I stopped caring about everything :D I finally realised that you don't have to ask "why" about everything and anything, and that you feel much better just going with it instead of worrying so much or caring. Maybe a lot of you know this already, but if you don't then just think about it. It worked for me anyway. I've always tried to figure out why things were things and come to some complicated conclusion about what to do next- its stupid really, if you just go with it'll work out sooo much better. And i'm not saying give up or stop caring *completely*, just that if your putting a lot of time n effort into something that really doesn't seem fair to you and your worrying about it a ton more than you think you should- try letting go n relaxing a little.
Oh and for those people like me who leave their msn on *all* the time- Close it. You'll get soo much more work done, if someone really needs to talk to you, they can send you a message. People don't expect you to be on all the time anyway ;) January 24 Yay!One of my friends (and a studio under PF) got a bunch of the character's from flash's and stuck them in a lil tribute flash to celebrate the birthday! Go look:
:) If any of you were registered with PF you woulda got the newsletter, if not sign up ( http://www.phrozenflame.com/pRegister.html ) or view it here ( http://www.phrozenflame.com/newsletters/newsletter3.html )
Anyway, hmm.... Australia Day is in like couple of days, might go to that concert thingy but i dunno. Might be lazy too. January 21 Long Time No SeeI haven't updated this place in a while, not much interesting in my life to tell you about really. New years was alright, Narnia was good (both times..if u know the story)... oh, I've been playing a lot of WoW lately, I *need* to get away from that game :P
um... PhrozenFlame's 2nd Anniversary yesterday :) Feels pretty cool for it to get this far, the Best of 2005 Flash Awards are now over... you can see the winners here.
Oh! I got bored so i bought www.thavidu.com yeah strange hey? Nothing there yet.
November 30 An Engineering Perspective on ChristmasThere are approximately two billion children (persons under 18) in the world. However, since Santa does not visit children of Muslim, Hindu, Jewish or Buddhist (except maybe in Japan) religions, this reduces the workload for Christmas night to 15% of the total, or 378 million (according to the population reference bureau). At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that comes to 108 million homes, presuming there is at least one good child in each. Santa has about 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 967.7 visits per second. This is to say that for each Christian household with a good child, Santa has around 1/1000th of a second to park the sleigh, hop out, jump down the chimney, fill the stocking, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left for him, get back up the chimney, jump into the sleigh and get onto the next house. Assuming that each of these 108 million stops is evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false, but will accept for the purposes of our calculations), we are now talking about 0.78 miles per household; a total trip of 75.5 million miles, not counting bathroom stops or breaks. This means Santa's sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second -- 3,000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man-made vehicle, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second, and a conventional reindeer can run (at best) 15 miles per hour. The payload of the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium sized LEGO set (two pounds), the sleigh is carrying over 500 thousand tons, not counting Santa himself. On land, a conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds. Even granting that the "flying" reindeer can pull 10 times the normal amount, the job can't be done with eight or even nine of them -- Santa would need 360,000 of them. This increases the payload, not counting the weight of the sleigh, another 54,000 tons, or roughly seven times the weight of the Queen Elizabeth (the ship, not the monarch). 600,000 tons traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance - this would heat up the reindeer in the same fashion as a spacecraft re-entering the earths' atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer would adsorb 14.3 quintillion joules of energy per second each. In short, they would burst into flames almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them and creating deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team would be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second, or right about the time Santa reached the fifth house on his trip. Not that it matters, however, since Santa, as a result of accelerating from a dead stop to 650 mps in .001 seconds, would be subjected to acceleration forces of 17,000 g's. A 250 pound Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of the sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force, instantly crushing his bones and organs and reducing him to a quivering blob of pink goo. Therefore, if Santa did exist, he's dead now. Merry Christmas! Note: Thanks for the post Tash Further Note: For those of you bitching bout stuff in my comments, I didn't write it, i just posted it and I'm not wrecking christmas, i just thought it was funny. :P November 28 Attack of the.... *shrugs*Around 9.30pm, Sunday 27th of November, a Nuclear Bomb fell within the Ranatunga household. The ensueing counter-attacks and nuclear winter lasted til at least 2.30am. It is unsure when or whether the current radiation effects will ever wear off.
